Brandon Hill wondered aloud Wednesday why he was spending his 23rd birthday in jail accused of killing Michael Alano Portaro, 22, outside a brew pub March 30. Speaking over a video link at the Clark County Detention Center, Hill, who has been in and out of jail the past few years, said he’s not the shooter.
Harel Zahavi told jurors he never intended to defraud four Las Vegas casinos out of $384,000 in gambling markers. But his testimony didn’t stop a jury Wednesday from convicting him of four felony counts. He faces one to four years in prison and a maximum $5,000 fine on each count at an Oct. 27 sentencing.
Police said Tuesday that Brandon J. Hill, 22, had been charged with murder in the March 30 slaying of Michael Alano Portaro, 22, outside the Tenaya Creek Brewery. They said a cigarette tossed aside by the suspect just before the shooting contained Hill’s DNA.
