TENTON, N.J. — A federal judge ruled Friday night that New Jersey cannot partially lift a prohibition on sports betting in an effort to boost its struggling horse racing and casino industries, a finding Gov. Chris Christie’s administration intends to appeal.
TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey could drop its ban on betting on sports entirely, but it cannot legally set conditions as it ends the prohibition, a lawyer for the NCAA and four major sports leagues told a federal judge Thursday.
