A sizzling start by freshman guard Patrick McCaw provided the spark UNLV needed. For a while, he carried his team. At the finish line, when he needed help, it was nowhere to be found.

Patrick McCaw made great use of his first start. When UNLV staggered out of the gates, McCaw quickly asserted himself and got his teammates going. It wasn’t enough as the Rebels wore down in a 53-47 loss at San Diego State, but McCaw certainly wasn’t the problem.
