Incentive packages highlighted on new vehicles at Friendly Ford

When shopping for a new or pre-owned vehicle, there are several essential elements needed, according to Friendly Ford Finance Director Pete Ferris.

As a rule of thumb, the key components include a current pay stub, a utility bill and a valid form of ID in order to verify identity. Not long after the customer has test driven and selected a vehicle, a credit application is filled out so that the final credit score can be utilized to find what financing best suits the buyer.

“We do business with lenders all the time so we can find the buyer the most consumer-friendly financing,” said Ferris, who has been in the car business overall for almost 30 years. “Other than filling out a credit application that takes about five minutes, the rest of it is about a 45-minute process.

“This is generally the second-largest purchase a person can ever make with a home being first so it’s important to devote the proper amount of time to the transaction.”

Ford Motor Co. sets the incentives on the vehicles depending on the model. For instance, the dealership offers rebates and special financing on the 2016 Platinum Explorer four-wheel drive.

The Platinum Explorer has long been one of the dealership’s most popular models complete with a package that includes a long list of features. Included among the features is the 3.5-liter V-6 Ecoboost engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and seating for up to seven.

The vehicle has a class III trailer towing package, trailer sway control, enhanced active park assist, front 180-degree camera, hill descent control, lane-keeping system, adaptive cruise control, remote start, reverse sensing system and terrain management system.

Equally as impressive is that the Platinum has a three-year/36,000-mile, bumper-to-bumper warranty; a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty; and a five-year, 60,000-mile roadside assistance.

According to Ferris, while the incentive package included with the Platinum Explorer four-wheel drive is strong, there are also incentives offered across the board at Friendly Ford.

“There are various incentives available depending on the model,” said Ferris. “In addition, there are oftentimes rebates available. We are always going to search for the customer’s best-case scenario based on their variables.”

Leasing is yet another option for a customer, added Ferris.

“You can generally get a lower payment with a lease,” he said. “Many people like to trade every two to three years, and they can do that with a lease.

“You go for two years on your lease, you can still buy it out. If you are tired of the particular model or your life has changed and you need another vehicle, you have the option of getting into a vehicle that better suits your needs.”

The key to the lease, though, is being able to live within the mileage that is included in the agreement. The idea works well for many as evidenced by the fact that 20-25 percent of the purchases for a new car is based on the leasing option.

“Driving a new car every three years without negative equity is a very popular way to get into a vehicle nowadays,” Ferris added. “The lease can be tailored to fit your individual driving habits.”

Situated at 660 N. Decatur Blvd., Friendly Ford has been at the same location since 1970. Further information can be found by calling 702-870-7221 or by visiting www.friendlyfordlv.com.
