Downtown Grand to open this fall

Downtown Las Vegas is only weeks away from getting its first new hotel-casino in more than three decades. Downtown Grand Las Vegas, a complete renovation and rebranding of the former Lady Luck, will bring 634 stylish hotel rooms, nearly 600 slot machines and 30 table games, and 17 different restaurants and bars, including Picnic, an urban rooftop pool retreat.

According to Seth Schorr, CEO of Downtown Grand Las Vegas Managers LLC and Fifth Street Gaming LLC, the companies overseeing the property’s development, management and casino operations, Downtown Grand breaks all the rules when it comes to design and philosophy.

“Unlike most casinos which are designed to keep patrons inside, Downtown Grand is designed to encourage interaction with neighboring downtown amenities and venues,” he said. “We want our guests to know about such venues as The Mob Museum and Fremont Street Experience just steps away from our property, so our design is very intentional to encourage exploration and interaction

“On Third Street, walk-up windows allow patrons to place bets at the sports book, get a drink and enjoy a signature Hawaiian-style shaved ice. One of our greatest amenities is all that downtown Las Vegas has to offer, and we want to encourage our guests to explore and discover.”

Dining is a major theme at the two-tower hotel that straddles Third Street between Stewart and Ogden avenues. Downtown Grand has developed venues and menus to cater to a variety of tastes and price points.

Stewart + Ogden diner bistro, the signature three-meal restaurant located directly on the main casino floor, features a menu designed by award-winning restaurateurs Elizabeth Blau and Kim Canteenwalla. Red Mansion offers authentic Chinese cuisine alongside innovative fusion dishes created by an established local chef. Add in The Spread, a traditional New York-style deli, and The Commissary, the hotel’s multivenue culinary treat, and you have a core of fabulous dining options.

The hotel’s shimmering light comes in the form of Picnic, an urban rooftop pool retreat that completes Downtown Grand’s daytime playground and nightlife venue overlooking Third Street and with an expansive view of the greater downtown area. Day or night, the private cabanas and grass sitting area at Picnic are a certain smash hit.

The exterior design of Downtown Grand blends multiple storefronts with a brick and granite façade and includes a variety of indoor/outdoor experiences. The “industrial chic” interior features the raw energy of a factory created by open ceilings juxtaposed with ornate fixtures and canopies. A five-lane porte cochere facing Fourth Street creates a grand entrance while providing easy access to the hotel and casino.

Downtown Grand offers rooms that range from 350 to more than 1,200 square feet — all with high-definition flat-screen televisions and modern amenities. Serta Presidential pillow-top mattresses and high thread-count linens set a new standard for luxury, sophistication and style in downtown Las Vegas.

“Everyone will be comfortable here.” Schorr said. “Downtown Grand Las Vegas has been designed and developed to provide an experience where each and every visitor can feel like a regular. We are so proud to be at the center of the urban renaissance currently underway in downtown Las Vegas, and we cannot wait to share this amazing hotel with our guests.”

Downtown Grand is scheduled to open late fall 2013. For more information, visit www.DowntownGrand.com.
