JETT Gaming receives tentative approval for slot route
A new slot machine route business set up to reclaim a portion of the reorganized Herbst Gaming operations was given tentative approval Wednesday by the Gaming Control Board.
JETT Gaming, a company controlled by Herbst Oil Co. chief executive Jerry Herbst, will begin business with three locations in Las Vegas, pending approval of the Nevada Gaming Commission later this month. The locations were not named but were expected to include more than 100 slot machines.
Herbst told the control board during a brief hearing the plan was to take over the slot machine route operations at his company's Terrible Herbst convenience stores.
There are roughly 100 Terrible Herbst locations in the state. He told the control board the new company could add roughly 800 to 900 slot machines if all locations are acquired.
Herbst was not involved with Herbst Gaming, which was operated by his sons, Ed, Tim and Troy Herbst. The company, which owns casinos and a 6,000-slot machine route operation, recently emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy with a new ownership structure and management. The Herbst family no longer has any ownership stake or role in the company.
Jerry Herbst and his wife, Maryanna Herbst, are sole owners of JETT Gaming.
