Fiberglass plant closure costs 90 jobs in Kingman

KINGMAN, Ariz. – Ninety jobs will be lost when Guardian Fiberglass closes its doors at the end of this month at the Kingman Airport Industrial Park in Arizona.

In a statement, the company said the prolonged home construction slump and high energy costs are forcing the closure of the 621,000-square-foot plant that has produced Fiberglas building insulation products for nearly 13 years.

The company did not respond to questions about the future use of its manufacturing plant.

Kingman Airport Authority President Dave French said it’s his understanding that Guardian will simply mothball the plant, hoping to return to production given sufficient increases in product demand.
