Foxwoods casino, union reach tentative agreement

MASHANTUCKET, Conn. — Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut and the United Auto Workers Union have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract for nearly 2,000 table games dealers that increases pay and allows dealers to decide how tips are distributed.

The sides would not comment on Thursday. A ratification vote is scheduled for Aug. 29 and Aug. 31.

The union posted some details on its website. Dealers would receive a 25-cent-per hour raise retroactive to March 1, 2012. They would get another 30 cents per hour retroactive to March 13, 30 cents next year and 30 cents in 2015.

The UAW local said the weak economy made it harder to get a better contract.

Casino revenue has been falling as customers spend less money and competition picks up in the Northeast.
