James Brewer out as CEO of Bank of George

After six months at Bank of George, James Brewer has been “released” from his position as president and chief executive officer of the community bank, the company’s chairman said Monday.

“Jim Brewer has been released by Bank of George,” said Ed Nigro chairman of the board. “His departure was deemed necessary by the board of directors.”

Nigro stressed that Brewer’s departure “was not related to the performance of the bank,” which reported a $290,000 profit in 2012. He said the bank will be searching for a new chief executive.

Brewer left Town & Country Bank in September to replace Diane Fearon as president and CEO of the Las Vegas-based community bank.

Bank of George, with $111.3 million in assets, operates branches in Henderson and Summerlin.

Brewer was unavailable for comment Monday. Before he arrived in Las Vegas in January 2011, Brewer spent two years as CEO of Goldwater Bank in Scottsdale, Ariz.
