JetBlue adds nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale
JetBlue Airways, a popular, predominantly East Coast airline with a small presence at McCarran International Airport, is adding nonstop service to and from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The airline announced that it would begin daily round-trips to McCarran from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Oct. 29. The airline is introducing the route with $129 one-way fares plus fees, available for travel between Oct. 29 and Dec. 16 with some Thanksgiving blackout dates. Promotional-fare flights must be purchased by Monday.
Fares increase to $149 to $169 after the promotional period.
Flights from Fort Lauderdale will leave at 7:30 p.m., arriving in Las Vegas at 10 p.m. Return flights leave McCarran at 11 p.m., arriving at 6:30 a.m. the next day.
JetBlue operates flights on 150-passenger, twin-engine Airbus A320 jets.
Fort Lauderdale is a focus city for JetBlue with flights connecting to the Caribbean and South America. The airline recently added San Jose, Costa Rica; Lima, Peru; Port-au-Prince, Haiti; Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Punta Cana, Dominican, Republic; and Cartagena, Colombia, to its route map.
In Las Vegas, JetBlue offers two daily round-trips to Boston, 27 trips a week to and from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, and 32 a week to and from its West Coast hub of Long Beach, Calif.
JetBlue carried 192,296 Las Vegas passengers in the first quarter of 2014, ranking it 10th among commercial carriers at McCarran. The airline has a 2.2 percent market share of seats to the Las Vegas market.
JetBlue is expanding its presence at Fort Lauderdale, growing to 32 nonstop routes from that airport. The company plans to offer 100 daily flights from there by 2017.
