Hey Las Vegas, Microsoft is here to stay. At least for the next year anyway.
The tech giant’s store at the Fashion Show mall — originally meant to close after the 2012 holiday shopping season — is officially set to stay open through the end of 2013.
The store sells Microsoft’s Surface and Surface Pro tablets, in addition to the company’s software suites. The shop also offers in-store workshops and personal training.
The Fashion Show mall store at 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South isn’t an in-line location, but more of a large kiosk. That doesn’t seem to bother customers.
“Customers have been thrilled that we’re here. We’ve had so many people visit locally as well as international customers,” said store manager Scott Gregory.
The Las Vegas store is one of 34 pop-up shops that opened around the U.S. on Oct. 26, the same day Microsoft’s Surface and Windows 8 became available to the public.
The other stores also are set to remain open. Those in Beachwood, Ohio, Miami and San Francisco will transition to full-line locations.
The Las Vegas shop employs about 14 people, including Gregory, who moved to Las Vegas from California for the job.
