CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval on Wednesday said he appointed Alaina Burtenshaw chairwoman of the Public Utilities Commission.
Burtenshaw has worked on and with the commission since 1992, and has served as a commissioner since last January.
She has been staff counsel and assistant staff counsel, responsible for electric, gas and water cases in Northern and Southern Nevada. Since 1997, Burtenshaw has been the principal attorney in the larger deferred energy and general rate cases and has represented staff in cases associated with environmental impacts, renewable energy and railroad safety.
Burtenshaw is a graduate of Idaho State University. She received her law degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
Burtenshaw didn’t return a call seeking comment before press time.
