Voting begins Tuesday among about 400 Allegiant Travel Co. flight attendants to decide whether they want to be represented by the Transport Workers Union of America.
The voting, conducted under the supervision of the National Mediation Board, will conclude Dec. 22. The votes will then be tabulated and a majority of those participating will decide whether or not to go with a union.
Flight attendants are now independent and have a committee that takes concerns and issues to management. But some have expressed unhappiness with work rules more than straight pay issues. Management has called flexibility a key to Allegiant remaining profitable in the airline industry.
