First, a little background.
Did you know between two and three thousand aircraft fly across the North Atlantic between Canada, the United States and Europe every day?
That’s a lot of air traffic in a 24-hour span and pretty cool to watch when compiled in a 3D video.
NATS, a global provider of air traffic control services, did just that, giving us flashback to “War Games,” or, in a strange way, “Avatar,” with data taken from a day last August showing 2,524 flights crossing the North Atlantic.
Or you could go another way, as one commenter on Gizmodo did, calling it “the annual spawning run of commercial aircraft.”
Not totally comfortable with that. I’ll go back to the Matthew Broderick reference even if he started a countdown to World War III.
