20-year-old victim of Monday shooting identified

A 20-year-old man slain in a shooting Monday afternoon near Ann Road and Clayton Street was identified by the Clark County coroner's office as Dakota Volk.

Volk, of North Las Vegas, died from a gunshot wound in his chest, a coroner's office spokesman said Tuesday.

North Las Vegas police said they responded to reports of gunfire on the 1800 block of Arrow Stone Court just before 2:30 p.m. Monday. Police said Volk's body was found outside a home.

Volk's death is the sixth slaying in 2011 in North Las Vegas.

Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said there were no updates on the shooting Tuesday afternoon.
