Henderson man arrested in woman’s strangulation death

A 50-year-old Henderson man was arrested on murder charges Wednesday in the strangulation death of a woman.

Henderson police said James M. Hill called 9-1-1 Wednesday morning and said he accidentally choked a prostitute to death during sex in his apartment at 75 N. Valle Verde Drive, near Wigwam Parkway.

Police said evidence at the scene indicated the woman's death was not accidental, but details were not released.

Hill told police the woman died sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning. He said he woke up Tuesday and found the woman dead.

He contemplated dumping the woman's body and tried several different methods of suicide before he called authorities, police said Hill told detectives.

Hill was treated at a hospital after taking a large amount of pills before he was booked, police said.

The woman will be identified by the Clark County coroner's office.
