Henderson police operation ends with 9 arrests and 60 tickets

Henderson police arrested nine drivers for DUI and issued over 60 speeding tickets during a three-week operation aimed to curb road fatalities, the city said Saturday.

The operation, which ended on Jan. 5, was aimed at finding drunken and reckless drivers, city spokesman Keith Paul said in a news release.

Nine drivers were arrested on driving under the influence charges, 61 drivers were cited for speeding, and numerous other tickets were given for other systematic violations, such as having no insurance or driver’s license, Paul said.

The department cited statistics from the Nevada Department of Public Safety reporting that 45 people died in alcohol-related crashes in Clark County in 2014. Paul said 13 people died in traffic accidents in Henderson in 2014.
