House fire leads to drug, gun bust in northeast valley

A house fire led police to a marijuana grow operation in the northeast valley early Tuesday morning, according to an afternoon release from Metro.

Las Vegas Fire Department responded to the fire at 980 Looking Glass Lane, near the intersection of Bonanza Road and Sloan Lane just before 3:30 a.m., the release said.

Fire personnel noticed items they believed were used for growing marijuana and contacted police, Metro spokesman Jesse Roybal said.

Seventy-seven marijuana plants, 43 pounds of “finished ready for sale marijuana,” over 22 grams of cocaine and four firearms were impounded by narcotic detectives, according to the release.

Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski said Clark County Fire Department took over the investigation. The condition of the residence as well as the cause of the fire were not immediately known.

No arrests were made, but authorities do plan to seek indictments against the two adult males living in the home.

The males transported themselves to the hospital with minor injuries.
