Man who beat another man to death calls cops from Henderson police station lobby

One man is dead and another in jail after a fight in Henderson early Wednesday.

Charles E. Pierce, 25, was arrested on murder charges after he called 911 about 1:50 a.m. from the Henderson police station lobby.

He told the dispatcher he was in a fight with a man he did not know, and the man wasn’t moving, Henderson police said. He was told to stay on the phone, but he ran. Police caught him later.

Police found the dead man’s body nearby at 105 W. Basic Road, near Lake Mead Drive and Boulder Highway. He did not appear to be wounded, police said.

Investigators were trying to determine if the men knew each other and why they fought.
