Motorcyclist dies in crash near Boulder Highway and Nellis Boulevard

A hit-and-run ended in the death of a 71-year-old motorcyclist Wednesday afternoon on Boulder Highway near Nellis Boulevard, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the deceased man was not released. He was riding a 2001 Harley-Davidson.

At 2:49 p.m., the motorcyclist was headed north on Boulder Highway when he was forced to the ground and ejected from the bike. Police did not specify how the motorcyclist was forced to the ground.

A vehicle, possibly a dump truck, was also traveling north. After the motorcyclist hit the ground, the truck ran over the man, police said.

The driver of the vehicle in question fled. The motorcyclist died at the scene. Police said a vehicle that may be the suspect vehicle has been found and is being processed for evidence.

The incident was the 53rd traffic fatality within the jurisdiction of Las Vegas police.
