One person was slain in the central valley on Saturday night in what Las Vegas police said might be a gang-related shooting.
The shooting occurred inside the gated Siena Townhomes apartment complex, in the 1900 block of North Simmons Street and West Coran Lane, just south of Lake Mead Parkway.
Officer Bill Cassell, a police public information officer, said officers initially responded to a disturbance, which later turned into a “shots fired” call at 4:45 p.m.
“When officers got there, they found the deceased on scene,” Cassell said.
He declined to provide a name, age or sex of the victim.
A pair of squad cars were on scene, and officers were keeping an eye out on the apartment where the victim was still inside as of late Saturday evening, Cassell said.
Dozens of people had gathered outside the apartment after the shooting.
A woman who described herself as the fiancée of the victim’s father said the victim was a 35-year-old male.
One resident of the apartment complex, Tasha Washington, said she has lived there for four years and there’s never been a problem with violence.
“But today I heard gunshots,” she said.
