Photographer accused of child porn is pageant co-director

A local photographer accused of taking pornographic photos and videos of minors in his studio is also the co-director of a local beauty pageant.

William Thompson, identified by Las Vegas police as the 52-year-old operator of Storybook Studios, was arrested Nov. 24 after authorities say they received information that he had been taking explicit photographs of a juvenile model for several months. He was released from jail on Dec. 16 after posting $200,000 bail, according to police.

With working as a photographer at the studio, Williams also helped run the All American Society Pageant, which was founded by his wife in June 2010 , according to an article in the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s View neighborhood newspaper.

The society plans six pageants a year, inviting females from as young as 1 month old to adult to participate. The biggest turnout is among teenagers.

All American Elite Society Pageant is a nonprofit organization that encourages participants to engage in community service and focus on good character in addition to beauty, according to the Jan. 11, 2011, View article.

According to police, evidence indicates Williams might have sexually abused multiple victims. They are urging other possible victims to come forward.

Thompson is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 22. He is facing seven counts of use of a minor in production of pornography.
