Spring Creek man held in Idaho shooting

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — A 27-year-old Nevada man has been charged with felony eluding and felony aggravated battery on a police officer. Police say Clark J. Cleveland shot a police officer in the leg following a chase that resulted in the shooting death of a male bystander, and a three-hour standoff involving a female hostage.

Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs says Cleveland of Spring Creek, Nev., is being held on $2 million bond and may face other charges following the shooting that occurred in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Friday morning.

Police say Cleveland is the only person who fired a weapon. He surrendered after releasing the female hostage unharmed.

The Twin Falls Times-News reports that authorities have not identified the person killed or the hostage.
