Task force arrests California man wanted for attempted murder

A man suspected of attempted murder in California was arrested by a task force in the northeast valley Tuesday afternoon, Las Vegas police said.

Jesse Pineda, 21, was detained by a U.S. Marshal’s Service task force near Pecos and Walnut roads, police said.

The hunt for Pineda closed down two elementary schools in the area briefly. At no time were children at the schools in danger, police said. Pineda was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and awaits extradition.

The task force is composed of U.S. Marshals, Homeland Security agents, Nevada Highway Patrol personnel and detectives with Las Vegas police.
