Two charged in burglary, shooting

Two women have been charged in a botched burglary last month in which a man was shot.

Ashley Garcia, 19, and Melissa Heath, 30, were booked on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and burglary.

Las Vegas police say the women burglarized a home in the 7200 block of Copper Road, near Hollywood Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, on March 7.

A man checking on an alarm at his son’s house interrupted the burglary. When he confronted them as they left the home, one of the women shot him in the hand, police said.

Heath and Garcia were arrested on March 31 on unrelated charges of burglary and grand larceny auto for an incident in the 9700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South.

After their arrest, detectives also booked the women for the earlier incident.

They remain at the Clark County Detention Center.
