Man arrested on murder charge after fatal shooting near airport

Metropolitan Police Department officers on Friday arrested a man on an open murder charge following a shooting near Harry Reid International Airport, according to a news release.

Jacob Conrad, 34, was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center after police were alerted to a report of a shooting in the 6600 block of Gilespie Street in Las Vegas just before 9 p.m. on Friday.

The location was just south of the airport off Sunset Road, near the South Strip Transit Terminal.

Once at the scene, according to the release, officers found that Conrad had arrived to a parking lot in the same vehicle as the shooting victim, a man who was not identified in the release.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, according to the release, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police, according to the release, believe a physical altercation happened between Conrad and the victim before he shot the man.

The identity of the victim had not been released by the Clark County coroner’s office as of Saturday evening.

According to jail logs, Conrad was arrested on suspicious of a robbery charge in addition to the open murder charge. Jail records also show that he faced a warrant from another state.

Metro asks that anyone with information about the homicide contact the department’s homicide section by phone at 702-828-3521 or by email at homicide@lvmpd.com.
