Man dead after verbal altercation in east Las Vegas

A man was shot and killed Sunday morning in the east Las Vegas Valley.

The shooting was reported around 8:35 a.m. near East Converse Drive and North Hollywood Boulevard, according to a Metropolitan Police Department news release. Arriving officers found the victim lying on the street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with another individual when he was shot. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

This is an ongoing investigation being led by Metro’s Homicide Section.

The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
