Police want to question men after fatal North Las Vegas shooting

North Las Vegas police are seeking the public’s help in finding two men wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old woman Saturday night.

She arrived at University Medical Center with at least one gunshot wound and died during surgery, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Peter Kisfalvi said. Metro later determined she had been shot within North Las Vegas Police Department’s jurisdiction, near Ann Road and Tropical Parkway, he said.

North Las Vegas police spokesman Aaron Patty confirmed that the department is investigating the shooting as a homicide. Metro notified North Las Vegas police that the shooting had taken place in its jurisdiction at around 11:30 p.m., he said.

North Las Vegas police had received a call earlier Saturday night reporting shots fired in the area of Ann Road and Tropical, but responding officers could not find a scene or a victim, Patty said.

The woman and her friend encountered two men at a nearby convenience store before she was shot while sitting in a passenger seat of a Jeep, he said. The woman’s friend then took her to UMC.

Police are still searching for the two men, Patty said. One is described as a thin-profiled black man in his early 20s, The second is described as a thin-profiled black man in his early 20s with dreadlocks. Both were described wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirts with khaki pants and black shoes.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the victim once her family is notified of her death.

This is 238th homicide in Clark County this year, and the 21st homicide investigated by North Las Vegas police.
