Inmate walks away from work crew in Reno

A minimum security inmate walked away from a work crew in Reno on Tuesday, the Nevada Department of Corrections said.

Zachary David Tankersley, 20, was working with the Nevada Department of Forestry doing weed abatement Tuesday morning near Interstate 580 at South Meadows when he left the area.

Tankersley is described as a white man who is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs about 160 pounds, and has green eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing bluejeans, a white T-shirt and black work boots.

He was admitted on March 1 and was serving 12 to 36 months for burglary out of Washoe County, the Corrections Department said. He was housed at the Stewart Conservation Camp in Carson City.

It is believed that Tankersley is still in the Reno area, though he may have ties to Stockton, California.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Tankersley is asked to contact local law enforcement or call 911.
