Las Vegas police arrest man in connection with 17 burglaries

Metro arrested a man in connection with a series of burglaries Wednesday afternoon.
Bernardino Santiago, 45, was arrested following at least 17 burglaries of local businesses, mostly restaurants and food joints between January and June, Metro Detective Brad Freiss said. Late at night, Santiago would break through doors or enter through the roof to steal cash and equipment.
Santiago was released from prison six months ago and told Metro that he would hit restaurants and businesses almost every other night if not twice a night, Freiss said. Immediately after he got out of prison he started breaking into businesses again. Santiago would use that money to gamble and use drugs, Freiss said.
Metro caught Santiago through “smart detective work and teamwork from patrol officers,” they posted with a video on YouTube.
