Las Vegas police are investigating a burned body found Monday afternoon south of Laughlin on Needles Highway.
Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jeff Goodwin said the body was discovered just after 5 p.m. on the highway where “the white gas line crosses the river,” which is west of the Colorado River near Marina Boulevard, close to mile marker 4.
Homicide detectives were initially called but investigators decided to wait for an autopsy report from the Clark County coroner’s office before handing the case over to Metro’s homicide section.
The coroner’s office had determined neither the cause nor the manner of death Monday. The office will name the person found once family has been notified.
