Nevada inmate recaptured after leaving Pioche prison work camp
The Nevada Corrections Department has found an inmate who walked away from a work camp in Pioche.
Corrections Department spokeswoman Brooke Keast said 24-year-old Claude Laska, a minimum-security inmate, escaped from the Pioche Conservation Camp about 4:30 p.m. Monday. He was found about 1:35 p.m. Tuesday after a multi-agency investigation.
Keast said a vehicle had been broken into and ammunition was taken earlier Tuesday outside Pioche.
A Corrections Department sergeant later found him and took him into custody, with help from Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department deputies. Laska was jailed on counts of burglary of a vehicle, grand larceny of a firearm, escaping, and firearm possession by a prohibited person.
Laska was previously serving 19 to 72 months for home invasion and several lesser charges in Clark County.
