Las Vegas sexual assault detectives seek additional victims of charter teacher
A suspect has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault that occurred within Las Vegas, and police are seeking possible additional victims.
Francisco Misajon, 48, was booked Tuesday into the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of lewdness with a child under 14 years old, according to a Metropolitan Police Department release.
Detectives said they believe there may be additional victims because Misajon is a teacher with ties to local students. Innovations International Charter School said Misajon was employed at their K-6 campus on Oakey Boulevard in the central Las Vegas Valley in a press release published Thursday.
Misajon was a fourth grade teacher and worked at the charter school for 1.5 years, according to Ken Malin, the school’s business director.
Innovations International said it received allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a teacher and student on Monday. After receiving the allegations, the school said it immediately removed Misajon from his classroom, instructed him to not contact any students or staff and placed him on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
“Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is Innovations’ top priority. We take all allegations of misconduct very seriously,” the school wrote in a press release. “We assure our parents, guardians, and staff that we are taking all necessary steps to address the situation and keep our school environment safe.”
The school said it will not release any further details to protect the integrity of the investigation and have provided counseling and psychological support services to students and families affected by the news.
Anyone who may have been a victim of Misajon or has information about this crime is urged to contact Metro’s Sexual Assault Detail at 702-828-3421. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
