Boyfriend charged with shooting girlfriend in west Las Vegas

A 34-year-old man faces an attempted murder charge after a shooting Friday morning in the western Las Vegas Valley.

Jail and booking records show Marvin L. Harris, 34, was booked Friday into Clark County Detention Center. He’s being held without bail.

The Metropolitan Police Department previously reported that a man was taken into custody after shooting his girlfriend about 1:45 a.m. at 9501 W. Sahara Ave., near Fort Apache Road.

According to an arrest report, Harris, who had been dating the woman for about a year, was standing outside a Chevy Trailblazer and arguing with her as she sat behind the wheel. When officers arrived, they found her injured and slumped over and Harris and another man nearby.

Witnesses told police that they saw or heard Harris fire multiple shots, the report says. Police recovered two bullets and three fragments from inside the car.

The woman suffered an entry wound to her left shoulder, an exit wound in her back and several broken ribs. Police say she is expected to survive.
