Woman hospitalized after being pistol-whipped

A woman was hospitalized Monday night after she was pistol-whipped at a northeast valley apartment complex.

The woman was moving out of her apartment on the 4500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North, near Craig Road, when she got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.

When the argument escalated, he took out a handgun and hit her in the head and face. She left the apartment and called police about 7:30 p.m. The woman was taken to the hospital with survivable injuries.

Police responded to the apartment, but could not determine whether the man was inside. Some neighboring apartments were temporarily evacuated.

As of Monday night, the man was still at large, Gordon said; police continue to investigate.
