6 TV shows you can’t miss this week

Once again, “Dancing with the Stars” has notable people from all walks of life competing for that shiny Mirror Ball Trophy.

It usually heralds the start of the fall season, and it’s one of six shows to watch this week.

1. “Dancing with the Stars,” 8 p.m. ET Monday, ABC

Judge Len Goodman is out this season, but the producers have found yet another buzzworthy cast.

There’s Paula Deen, perhaps hoping to regain good favor with the public; Alek Skarlatos, one of the heroes who prevented a mass shooting on a train in France; “Queen of Funk” Chaka Khan; and Bindi Irwin, teen daughter of the late Steve “Crocodile Hunter” Irwin, among many others.

In its 21st season, “Dancing” continues to cause a commotion.

2. “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris,” 10 p.m. Monday, NBC

Neil Patrick Harris is the second celebrity this year to host a live variety/game show (Ryan Seacrest’s “Knock Knock Live” crashed and burned after two weeks).

We think Harris has what it takes to keep audiences tuned in to his live show, where he promises “anything and everything can happen.” The man can sing, dance, act and do magic tricks, so he has a lot going for him.

3. “The Mindy Project,” Tuesday, Hulu

Fans heartbroken after Fox canceled “The Mindy Project” are now getting a fourth season, streaming with new episodes every Tuesday on Hulu. Consider this their “Arrested Development” or “Community.”

4. “The Bastard Executioner,” 10 p.m. Tuesday, FX

“Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter goes “Game of Thrones” with this much-anticipated followup.

5. “Doctor Who,” 9 p.m. Saturday, September 19, BBC America

Peter Capaldi’s Doctor is back for his second season (and the current series’ ninth), alongside Clara, facing threats new and old — including the return of fan favorite villain Missy.

And what’s “Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams doing there? Only the Doctor knows for sure.

6. “So You Think You Can Dance,” Monday 8 p.m., Fox

It’s been a season of Team Street versus Team Stage (with new judges Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo) and one winner will be chosen among the final four.

The fan favorite reality show finishes its 12th season, as always with the possibility of future seasons up in the air.

Egg shortage to worsen: How to prepare as spring approaches

Eggs have become a symbol of recent (and relentless) inflation — they rose an eye-popping 11.1% in November and are up a whopping 59.9% over the past 12 months, according to the consumer price index. And it seems like there will be fewer Easter eggs in 2023.
