5 picks for art in Las Vegas this week

Judy Collins and Stephen Stills

It’s been almost 50 years since Judy Collins and Stephen Stills’ tumultuous relationship inspired Crosby, Stills and Nash’s classic “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.” But after all this time, Collins and Stills have reunited, at least on stage, to perform past hits and selections from their new “Everybody Knows” album, including songs by the late Leonard Cohen, at The Smith Center’s Reynolds Hall at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. For tickets ($35-$115), click on thesmithcenter.com.

‘The Birds’

Las Vegas Little Theatre ruffles feathers with this stage adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s tale (also the inspiration for director Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 thriller) about masses of flying fiends menacing mystified humans. “The Birds” lands at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at LVLT, 3920 Schiff Drive; performances continue Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sundays through Nov. 5, with an extra matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. Tickets are $21 to $24; visit lvlt.org for details.

iLuminate

The glow-suited “America’s Got Talent” finalists blend music, dance, art and technology to recount the fantastical adventures of a young artist whose magical paintbrush brings imaginary characters to life. The show lights up The Smith Center’s Reynolds Hall at 7:30 p.m. Sunday; for tickets ($24-$79), visit thesmithcenter.com.

Haunted Symphony

Hector Berlioz’s epic “Symphonie Fantastique” — which conjures a haunted artist’s dreams and nightmares — provides plenty of shivery atmosphere, but Halloween decor and treats will accompany the music during free Henderson Symphony Orchestra concerts at 8 p.m. Friday at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway, and 8 p.m. Saturday at Lake Las Vegas’ Ponte Vecchio Bridge. For details, visit hendersonsymphony.org.

‘Oliver!’

Consider yourself well in when Signature Productions presents Lionel Bart’s Tony-winning musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “Oliver Twist.” Previews begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday at Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive; performances continue through Nov. 18; for tickets ($20-$30), visit signatureproductions.net.
