QUESTIONS SURROUND HILTON, CY WAITS ARRESTS

In four wild days, Cy Waits’ world has flipped upside down: from Paris Hilton’s rescuer, to being elevated to one of the best jobs in Las Vegas, to jail.

Tuesday he made headlines for getting his gun and stopping a knife-wielding intruder who was threatening to gain entry into Paris Hilton’s home in Beverly Hills.

A day later Waits and his identical twin, Jesse, were elevated by Steve Wynn to the top nightclub operations job in Las Vegas after Wynn bought out Victor Drai, founding partner of Tryst nightclub.

Today Cy Waits, 34, is facing an uncertain future with Wynn after being arrested late Friday on DUI-alcohol and/or drugs charges while driving on the Strip with his girlfriend, Paris Hilton. She was booked on cocaine charges. Both were jailed.

Hilton has hired Las Vegas attorney David Chesnoff, who’s high-profile clients have included Britney Spears (for her 55-hour marriage), Celine Dion’s husband and Martha Stewart.

She was released without posting bail. His bail was set at $2,000 and he was held overnight.

The celebrity Website, TMZ.com is reporting that Hilton is claiming the purse, which contained a small amount of cocaine, was not hers.

Hilton was detained for drugs by South African police last month. She said the drugs were not hers. No charges were filed.

Before police pulled over Waits’ car, he and Hilton had been at Wynn Las Vegas, where he and his brother are now in charge of nightlife at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore.

About 11 p.m. she posted the tweet: "Hey Las Vegas! Turn on Channel 3 News Now xox." She was referring to an interview she had done about 8 p.m. with local entertainment reporter Alicia Jacobs of KSNV-TV, Channel 3.

Three hours later she tweeted: "In bed watching ‘Family Guy.’ Love this show.! So hilarious! Stewie is my favorite 🙂 love his accent" and tweeted "sweet dreams everyone" about an hour later, without any mention of the evening’s events.

She was booked into Clark County Detention Center at 11:42 p.m and released, raising questions of whether she received preferential treatment because of her celebrity status.

"Obviously a judge was called on her behalf to get her own-recognizance release," a Las Vegas attorney told Vegas Confidential.

A 2008 article in Details magazine profiled the high-flying twins and their ascension to the top of Las Vegas’ nightlife industry.

Jesse Waits brought up their close ties with the police department in this excerpt:

"At about 3 A.M. the following night, while driving his Hummer across Las Vegas Boulevard en route to Drai’s, Jesse blows through a red turn arrow. He doesn’t bother checking his rearview for flashing lights. ‘I know the guys at Metro,’ he says. ‘You’d be surprised at the influence that comes from owning a club in this town.’"

Cy Wait’s status with Wynn is another issue.

Six years ago, when a top Wynn executive was arrested on DUI charges while leaving Wynn Las Vegas on opening night, he was quickly dismissed.
