Classic returns in animated form

The movie: “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

The cast: Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, C-3P0

The director: Dave Filoni

The story: In this computer-animated return to that long-ago galaxy far, far away, Jedi knights struggle to restore peace as the Clone Wars rage on in the Galactic Republic. On a fateful mission, Anakin Skywalker (before he succumbs to the Darth side) and his Padawan pupil, Ahsoka Tano, confront slimy crime lord Jabba the Hutt as sinister Count Dooku plots their doom. And, on the battlefield, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda lead the massive clone army against the forces of the dark side.

The buzz: This animated adventure began as a TV project but “Star Wars” creator George Lucas saw some footage and decided, “This is really good. Why don’t we make a feature?” Some actors from live-action “Star Wars” adventures reprise their characters’ voices.
