Don’t Miss It

KATHY GRIFFIN

The former “Suddenly Susan” co-star only pretends to be toiling in obscurity for the sake of her Bravo reality series. In real reality, Kathy Griffin has achieved a solid B-minus on the backs of “My Life on the D-List” and a catty but hysterical stand-up routine in which she eviscerates celebrities whom she judges to be less deserving of fame than her.

Griffin also was more helped than hurt by the publicity tsunami generated by the part of her 2007 Emmy acceptance speech that went: “Suck it, Jesus. This award is my God now!”

See her at 7 and 10:30 p.m. today at the Mandalay Bay Theatre, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $71; call 632-7580.

WAYNE NEWTON

Do we really need to provide you with a reason to see Mr. Las Vegas? He’s Mr. Las Vegas, for crying out loud!

This is the third and final hometown stint this year for the 66-year-old crooner of “Danke Schoen” and “Daddy Don’t You Walk So Fast,” who has performed more than 30,000 shows in town. See him at 8:30 p.m. today through Wednesday in the Hollywood Theatre at the MGM Grand, 3799 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $65; call 891-7777.

OK, fine. Here’s a reason to see him: If he’s not supersuccessful as a concert act, he could possibly consider doing more bad reality TV.

TOWN SQUARE PARADE

A parade of holiday characters, led by a horse-drawn Santa Claus, snakes from Town Square Park to the Norman Rockwell-inspired Santa House, where the big guy will light a 40-foot Christmas tree as snow falls for 15 minutes. An interactive stage show follows. The free festivities start at 7 p.m. today at Town Square, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South, and the faux-snow part will repeat at 7 p.m. weekdays — and additionally at 8 p.m. Fridays through Sundays — until Christmas Eve. For more information, call 269-5005.

UFC 91: THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Not since Obama vs. McCain has a matchup been as highly anticipated as Couture vs. Lesnar. And these opponents are guaranteed to play less nice.

Brock Lesnar is much younger at 31 than Las Vegan Randy “The Natural” Couture’s 45. But Couture, the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s only three-time champion, is much more experienced than Lesnar, a former pro wrestler who fought his first UFC bout in February. The winner fights the victor of UFC 92’s Nogueira vs. Mir bout.

The show starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden arena, 3799 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Only $1,000 tickets were left at press time through; call 474-4000. The good news is that it’s on pay-per-view.

ETHEL M’S CHOCOLATE WONDERLAND

Dreaming of a brown Christmas? For the 15th consecutive year, Ethel M Chocolates and Botanical Cactus Gardens covers its three acres of desert landscaping with half a million twinkling lights, Christmas carolers and enough free samples to throw even healthy visitors into a diabetic coma.

The display is featured from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday until New Year’s Day. On Fridays and Saturdays, Santa is on hand. Call (800) 680-0150 for further details.
