Best bet for Cajun potato salad is to make your own

Taste of the Town reader Cindi Maciolek asked a few weeks back for a source for Cajun potato salad similar to what she used to find at the deli counter at Albertsons or a recipe for it. Regular reader Ann Brown offered this recipe.

Cajun potato salad

3 pounds red potatoes, boiled in skins, peeled and chopped

1/3 cup Creole mustard

½ teaspoon Cajun spice or Creole seasoning

½ cup diced green pepper

½ cup diced green onion

1/3 cup mayonnaise

1/3 cup sour cream

½ teaspoon sugar

½ cup crumbled cooked bacon

Salt and pepper, to taste

Mix all ingredients and chill for at least three hours (it’s better if refrigerated overnight).

For Patricia Meloy, readers reported several rather disparate local sources for Best Foods sandwich spread. Bev Perdew found it at Winco at 6101 N. Decatur Blvd.; there is another Winco at 80 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson. CeCi Schreiber found it at Glazier’s Food Marketplace at 8525 W. Warm Springs Road. Paula Zimmer spoke to the store director at Smith’s at 3850 E. Flamingo Road, and he ordered a case of 12 for her; as she purchased only four, she suspects there may be some left (call ahead to check or make a request to the store director at the Smith’s in your neighborhood). And Stephanie Reyes found it at La Bonita Supermarket at 2500 E. Desert Inn Road; there are four other La Bonita Supermarkets in the valley. …

For Bob Moos, Brown said fresh calves’ liver can be found at Glazier’s. …
