Borscht hunt ends happily

In her note seeking Manischewitz borscht, Penny Reese noted that, when chilled, it’s a great summer soup — which sounds pretty good right about now, even if the weather is getting incrementally cooler.

Fort Apache Road and the Kosher Experience Deli inside Smith’s at 2211 N. Rampart Blvd. …

For Carl Taylor, who’s looking for Colman’s dry mustard in 16-ounce cans, Dottie Shull found it at Poke Express, 655 W. Craig Road in North Las Vegas, and Dennis Mattson at the International Marketplace, 5000 S. Decatur Blvd. …

For Julie and Don McCuiston, who are looking for local sources for spices in bulk, Gary Robinson said he always finds a good selection at Sunflower Farmer’s Market, which is at 3365 E. Tropicana Ave. and 4020 S. Rainbow Blvd. John Polhemus of Taste Specialty Foods, 3945 W. Reno Ave., said he carries a full line, and Warren Gibbons said his wife, Laura, distributes spices for R.L.
