Reader seeks serene dining experience

Fourth St.; David Ewart recommended Rae’s Restaurant, 2531 Wigwam Parkway; and Scott Kagan recommended the Verandah at the Four Seasons, 3960 Las Vegas Blvd. South, and Panevino at 246 Via Antonio Ave. (at Sunset Road). …

Regular readers may remember a recent column in which several people lauded the lake perch at Jackson’s Bar & Grill, 6020 W. Flamingo Road. After that item ran, I heard from several who rushed over there, only to find out that the perch wasn’t what they had in mind.

What Midwesterners think of when they say “lake perch” is Great Lakes perch. What’s served at Jackson’s is Lake Victoria perch. Great Lakes perch are diminutive, fillets from them delicate little things; Lake Victoria perch — more correctly called Nile perch — are among the largest of freshwater fish.

And that’s the rest of the story. …

Vegas Golden Knights Christmas Display
In the Las Vegas Valley, the chances of getting a white Christmas are slim. But this year, you can have a “Knight” Christmas. A Henderson resident has a Christmas lights display that is synchronized to the entrance music for the Golden Knights. GG Misa’s Knights light show is played every 30 minutes from 5 to 10 nightly. His light show consists of two songs: Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and the entrance music, “Le Castle Vania,” from the movie “John Wick.” The display is located at 730 Bollons Island St. (Richard Brian/Las Vegas Reivew-Journal)
