Taste of the Town: Pointing the way to caches of anchovy-stuffed olives

Help is on the way for Lana and Len Lacombe, who are almost out of anchovy-stuffed olives for their martinis.

Gary W. Hansen, who said he also uses them in martinis, gets his at Total Wine &More at 501 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson; there’s another Total Wine at 730 S. Rampart Blvd. Edith Levitt also recommended Total Wine, as well as Wal-Mart Supercenter at 3075 E. Tropicana Ave. Marlene Drozd and Ann Brown reported finding them at Glazier’s Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road.

The Jensens at Village Meat &Wine, 5025 S. Eastern Ave., emailed that they carry them. And Burma McGahan reported finding them at the Avila Valley Barn in San Luis Obispo, Calif., adding that they’re also available through www.LBOlives.com (805-343-2310). …

For Richard Markus, who’s looking for a restaurant, preferably away from the Strip, that serves lamb chops, Angelica Orme recommended Ventano Italian Grill &Seafood at 191 S. Arroyo Grande Blvd. in Henderson, where, she said, the appetizer of French-cut lamb chops served on a sizzling stone “is more than enough for dinner if you pair it with a side of pasta or a salad.” Esther Lynn recommended Carve Steak House at the Eastside Cannery, 5255 Boulder Highway. Linda Pruter recommended the lamb T-bone appetizer at Montana Meat Co. at 6371 Centennial Center Blvd. Paige and Linda Livington recommended the chops at Steiner’s — A Nevada-Style Pub at 8168 Las Vegas Blvd. South, noting that they’re half-off during happy hour (there are two other Steiner’s locations in the valley), and Twin Creeks Steakhouse at Silverton, 3333 Blue Diamond Road, adding that they’re half-off during happy hour and available most nights; they advise calling to make sure. Brown recommended happy hour at Siena Italian Trattoria, 9500 W. Sahara Ave., and Joyce Hambacher recommended Outback Steakhouse. …

For Cheryl Ferguson, who’s looking for Feast From the East all-natural sesame dressing, Sue Bigsby found it at www.TheKitchenOutlet.com (760-320-6614). …

For John Bauman, who’s looking for dill rye bread, Dave Reynard reported finding it at Winco, which has stores at 80 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson and 6101 N. Decatur Blvd. …

More on rye flour: Allen Asch reported spotting it in the baking aisle at Smith’s at 8050 S. Rainbow Blvd.

Vegas Golden Knights Christmas Display
In the Las Vegas Valley, the chances of getting a white Christmas are slim. But this year, you can have a “Knight” Christmas. A Henderson resident has a Christmas lights display that is synchronized to the entrance music for the Golden Knights. GG Misa’s Knights light show is played every 30 minutes from 5 to 10 nightly. His light show consists of two songs: Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and the entrance music, “Le Castle Vania,” from the movie “John Wick.” The display is located at 730 Bollons Island St. (Richard Brian/Las Vegas Reivew-Journal)
