Graves kicks off Vanda Master Series

Opera singer Denyce Graves will open the UNLV Performing Arts Center’s Charles Vanda Master Series at 8 p.m. today at Artemus Ham Hall, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

Graves has become well known to opera fans for her portrayals of the title roles in “Carmen” and “Samson et Dalila.”

‘Lennon Anthology’ tonight in Henderson

Actor and musician Tim Piper and his band, Working Class Hero, will present “A Day in His Life: The John Lennon Anthology Concert” at 8 p.m. today in the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 Water St.

Piper mimics the personality, appearance and humor of Lennon during the two-hour musical performance.

‘Midway’ motors to box office lead on sluggish weekend for movies
