International festival scheduled this weekend
The Fifth Annual Las Vegas International Folk Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday on Fremont Street between Main Street and Las Vegas Boulevard.
Nearly 1,000 performers representing 22 countries will participate in the free event that includes workshops, competitions and crafts.
A parade of nations is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday.
Dance performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. today and Saturday at the Cashman Theater, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Tickets for the Cashman Theatre event are $10-$20.

Liberace competition preview set for Sunday
A Liberace Piano Competition Preview is scheduled for 1:30 and 3 p.m. Sunday in the Liberace Museum’s showroom, 1775 E. Tropicana Ave.
The event will showcase pianists from the 2007 competition, and the 2008 semifinalists will be announced.
Admission is free on Sunday for Nevada residents and their guests. General admission is $15, $10 for senior citizens and students, and free for children 10 and younger.
