Brace for the freak-for-all
When Freakshow Wrestling hits town this weekend, it will feature magicians, sideshow performers, a zombie invasion, vampires fighting chickens, whipped-cream thumb-tack pies and fire-breathing, knife-throwing clowns.
They had us at vampires fighting chickens.
Co-hosted by The Amazing Johnathan and self-proclaimed “professional weirdo” Jenn O. Cide, the event will be headlined by wrestlers Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Gangrel, Chavo Guerrero, John Morrison, Brian Kendrick and Freakshow Wrestling creator Sinn Bodhi.
Live music will be provided by the Radioactive Chickenheads, and GWAR’s Techno Destructo will make an appearance.
For a variety of reasons, including the promise on the show’s website of “sexy evil women swallowing each other’s swords while jumping in glass,” this is a 21-and-older event.
Tickets are $20 for the 8 p.m. Friday show at Helltown Studios, 6425 W. Richmar Ave.

Taste what’s new
Anthony’s Gourmet Burgers &Brews at the M Resort, 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, has introduced two new burgers, a crab sandwich, six seasonal craft beers and many more items. The Porter Burger ($13) is an Angus patty topped with porter-poached pastrami, Swiss cheese, coleslaw and mustard sauce on a toasted pretzel bun, and the T.G.B. Burger ($11) is a turkey burger glazed with Crabbies Ginger Beer, avocado, sprouts, tomato and green goddess aioli on a potato bun. The seasonal soft-shell crab sandwich ($11) has two crabs on a toasted hoagie roll with spicy remoulade, tomatoes and lettuce.
Good ‘ol days again
The calendar says 2014, but the music definitely signals something else, when the Jerry Tiffe Band revives vintage Vegas memories with tunes from the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s during a Labor Day Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday. Put on your dancing shoes and jitterbug or twist the night away at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. Tickets are $15; call 702-229-6383 or visit www.artslasvegas.org for more information.
Remember her name
How do you tell real burlesque from shows on the Strip that crib the name? Real burlesque dancers give themselves thoughtful names such as Vi Vacious, Lolita Haze and Sugar Shagmore. You can see them and more when the tassels fly at “Boom Boom Burlesque,” at 9 p.m. Saturday at Boomers Bar, 3200 W. Sirius Ave. Tickets start at $20; call 702-368-1863.
Chords for kids
Help some kids while helping yourself to a pair of killer shows at the two-night “Toccipalooza,” named after music scene fixture Joe Tocci, where 13 of Vegas’ finest bands team up to provide school supplies for children. The Mapes, Sounds of Threat, The Gashers, The People’s Whiskey and more will be a part of the festivities at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at The Dive Bar, 4110 S. Maryland Parkway. Admission is an unopened school supply item or $5, which will be donated to purchase supplies. Call 702-586-3483.
