Camille by Manon
2170 S. Rainbow Blvd., 702-586-2669
Camille by Manon is one of the area’s little secrets that won’t stay a secret for long. Once you try it, you can’t help telling other people about it. The spot is a former Carl’s Jr., and you can still use the drive-thru to order some French baguettes, but you’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t go inside to view the array of pastries, cakes and goodies on display. Breakfast includes the all-day special of three eggs boiled, scrambled or fried, a choice of bacon or Canadian bacon, a baguette or a croissant and a drink. There is also an omelette plate that mirrors the offer. Lunch offers build-your-own sandwiches. Those come with a choice of meats (turkey, ham, prosciutto, roast beef, salami or tuna) on various breads (croissant, panini or baguette), topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, jalapenos, olive, pickles, cornichons, Brie, Swiss, shredded cheddar, pesto, mayonnaise, butter and/or mustard. If salads are more your style, there is the Nicoise with lettuce, tuna and green beans, the du Chef with lettuce, ham, eggs and tomatoes, or the de Chevre chaud, which has lettuce, goat cheese and bread. The individual quiches include ham and cheese, quiche Lorraine with bacon and Swiss cheese or three styles — mushroom, spinach or vegetarian — which can be supplemented with bacon, goat cheese or salmon. Soups include French onion and split pea. Chef Anthony Jones IV, who got his start in Shreveport, La., works his magic on the beef bourguignon, giving it full flavor without spoiling it with extra salt. There is also pork Navarin, cassoulet and lasagna in two sizes. Camille by Manon is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
