For the Love of Cocktails event set for next month

The third For the Love of Cocktails event will be Feb. 10 to 12 in various locations in Southern Nevada. The three days of cocktail merry-making will begin with the seminars “Meet the Masters of Cocktails,” “Meet the Masters of Wine” and “Meet the Masters of Distilleries” on Feb. 10 at The Cromwell and the High Roller. The Downtown Bar Crawl will follow at 5 p.m Feb. 11 and the USBG Cocktail Wars are scheduled for 10 p.m. Feb. 11. “Brand micro-experiences” and seminars will follow from noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 12, and events will culminate with the Grand Gala on Feb. 12 at Skyfall at The Delano. Dine-N-Dash, a culinary tour of SLS Las Vegas, 2535 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is scheduled for Feb. 5 and will be a benefit for resort culinary director and chef Jose Andres’ nonprofit organization, World Central Kitchen, and the Three Square Food Bank. Tickets include signature dishes and hand-crafted beverages from all seven of the resort’s restaurants, as well as culinary offerings throughout the casino, “cocktail theater” by mixologist Rob Floyd and a live cooking demonstration by Andres and guest chef Curtis Stone. Hakkasan at the MGM Grand, 3799 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is celebrating the Year of the Monkey with a special Chinese New Year menu that will be served from Friday through Feb. 22. It will begin with double-boiled fresh ginseng and chicken soup, followed by a diced Wagyu beef and pine nut golden cup and a dim sum platter. Main dishes will be wok-fried lobster in spicy truffle sauce, Pipa Duck, grilled Chilean sea bass in honey, hericium mushroom stir-fry with lotus root and asparagus and dried scallop and crab meat fried rice. Dessert will be a banana and peanut cake with five-spice infused cream topped with gold leaf, and specialty cocktails will include the 9 Hou, with nine components to represent the monkey’s ninth position on the zodiac. The Recipe for Deception Happy Hour and Viewing Party to mark the appearance of chef Rick Moonen on the Master Chefs-based “Recipe for Deception” on Bravo will begin at 9 p.m. Jan. 28, with the show starting at 10 p.m. It’ll be at Moonen’s RM Seafood at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The viewing party will include small plates prepared by Moonen, a special Deception cocktail, wine and craft beer.
