See world’s largest cucumber slicer in downtown Las Vegas

See it to believe it: the Grand Garnisher

What’s being billed as the world’s largest and utterly inefficient cucumber slicer is touring Las Vegas this weekend, and it will make a stop from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Park on Fremont, The Rube Goldberg-style contraption — known as the Grand Garnisher — is brought to you by Hendrick’s Gin. It takes up an entire truck and is powered by a man on a penny farthing big-wheel style bicycle.

Events center kicks off NFL parties

With the NFL season in full swing, the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center will kick off its viewing parties on Sunday. Admission to the outdoor parties is free, but cost is $30 to reserve a table. dlvec.com

Late-night happy hours at Ike’s

For the night owls, Ike’s in the El Cortez has launched a pair of new late-night happy hours. Two-for-one drinks — including Bombay Sapphire, Bulleit Bourbon, Patron Silver, Crown Royal, Jack Daniels, Ketel One, Bacardi, Jameson and Tito’s — and half-off draft beer specials are available from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. and 3-5 a.m., seven days a week.

Wine tasting event at Container Park

Downtown Container Park hosts its fall wine tasting from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $25 in advance through EventBrite, and $30 at the door. Included in the ticket price is a giveaway for prizes including a free one-night stay at the Gold Spike’s Sugar Shack.

Surprise act planned at burlesque show

The monthly edition of second Sunday Burlesque Roulette returns to Artifice in Arts Square this weekend. Miss Miranda Glamour hosts the event, where the second act is a surprise, even to the performer. Admission to the 8 p.m. show is $10. artificebar.com
